The water light organ is played live: in sync with the music “off the line”, colorfully lit water fountains move according to a specially written score. Aaron Copeland's “Fanfare for the common man” traditionally starts at the beginning. Two artists each implement the arrangements: one moves the water fountain over the controls, the other plays the "light piano". Whether Hamburg or Hamburg visitors - you have to experience this spectacle for the senses. This can be confirmed by the approximately 300,000 visitors annually. Since the renovation in 2019, 566 LED headlights with up to 32W (instead of before 2019 = 762 headlights with up to 500 watts) have been combined in switching groups of different colors on the "Lichtklavier". The light piano alone has 95 white keys. Two pumps draw the water from the fountain basin. The water is sprayed in virtuoso forms through 99 water jets. The main beam can reach a height of 36 meters. The water light organ moves as much water as a city with 500,000 inhabitants uses per hour. In addition to the colored water light concerts in the evening, there are water games (without light) at 2, 4 and 6 p.m.
