Ethan Freeman - One the the most internationally acclaimed musical-theatre performer.
The American-born artist is best known in Hamburg for his leading roles in Cats, Mozart, Tarzan and Aladdin.
He has built an international career spanning London’s West End, Vienna, Hamburg, Toronto, and beyond.
During a long career playing Cats, Apes, various villains, monsters and clergymen, I have come to view my role in the world as that of a “Storyteller”- someone who uses play, transformation and empathy with a character to shed light on our joys and sorrows, our triumphs and our tragedies.
More recently, in my painting and my poetry, I have tried to continue in the pursuit of finding sense in a chaotic cosmos and beauty in our human adventure and passing any newfound insights on to the audience, the viewer or the reader. All of this is made possible by a desire, or perhaps even a need, to play: with voice, with body, with colours and textures and with words. To set free the “inner child” even as it gradually becomes a senior citizen!
