Von Mahlsdorf bezeichnete=0D=0Asich als Transvestit und als „Frau im Körper eines Mannes“ und=0D=0Abenutzte das Pronomen „sie“.=0D=0A=0D=0ARosa von Praunheim was a gay writer, producer, film director and=0D=0Aactivist in the LGBTQIA+ movement, and made over 150 short and=0D=0Afeature-length films between 1968 and 2025. He died in Berlin on 17=0D=0ADecember 2025 at the age of 83. The HIQFF has already screened three=0D=0Aof his films at the Metropolis cinema this year. Ich Bin Meine Eigene=0D=0AFrau is currently screening at the HIQFF. This semi-documentary film=0D=0Aportrays Charlotte von Mahlsdorf (1928–2002), who grew up in fascist=0D=0AGermany during the Second World War as Lothar Berfelde.
