There's always something happening in the Port of Hamburg, 24/7. The lights of the cranes and ships shine all night, and the wind often carries the sounds across the Elbe even in the dark. Does this mean that there's no difference between day and night, between light and darkness, in the port? On their performative sound walk "nachtwandeln" (nightwalking), Esther Pilkington and Manuel Scuzzo invite you to listen together to the transition between day and night. What changes in the city and the port when it gets dark? What does the night sound like, even when no one turns off the lights? What stories do the nocturnal sounds of the port tell us, and is there ever silence? Together, we'll immerse ourselves in the Port of Hamburg at night and its visual and acoustic phenomena after sunset. Esther Pilkington is a performance artist and researcher. Manuel Scuzzo is a sound researcher and musician. Both live and work in Hamburg. For "nachtwandeln," they have combined their shared interest in the night with walking, a practice they have both pursued for years as an artistic activity. The tour takes place from 8 pm to 10 pm on the following dates: April 10 | September 18 | October 9, 2026. HOW TO GET YOUR TICKET: Please select the available start time from the calendar below. ABOUT THE TOURS: The meeting point is 15 minutes before the tour begins in front of the entrance to the exhibition depot in Shed 50A. Duration: approx. 2 hours.
