Herbal medicine is an important component of all traditional medical systems – both conventional medicine and, for example, naturopathy. In our country, phytotherapy has developed over the last few years into a scientifically grounded branch of medicine, used by both physicians and naturopaths. The efficacy of herbal preparations must now be scientifically proven before these herbal medicines, whose effectiveness has long been known through experience, may be prescribed.
