KOHKS | 2 MATERIALS 1 NAME, HAMBURG'S ENERGY
wirvier collective (Hamburg), Colectivo Teatral Luz de Luna (Bogotá)
Club Energía invites you on an all-inclusive trip. Through the Port of Hamburg to the El Cerrejón coal mine in La Guajira, northern Colombia. Across Colombia's coca plantations and finally into the vibrant nightlife of a major German city in summer. Cocaine, coal, capital. How do you get fired up?
Millions of tons of coal leave northern Colombia on large ships to supply Germany's coal-fired power plants with energy. Thousands of Hamburg residents snort what Colombian farmers have produced for them daily: coke. Two energy kicks, one name.
A performative harbor tour awaits you, taking you along retraced coke routes to the coal port, ultimately leading you to the depths of scenic bass tones in the Hafenklang club. Global dependencies, the sacred coca plant, indigenous culture, colonization and displacement, as well as crime and activism. A story of a failed coal phase-out and energetic parties in the tension between activism and hedonism.
