Line Up: Post Punk - Indie
Between youthful euphoria and the harsh reality, there's probably an elephant in almost every rehearsal room at some point, from which this one brutally honest question bursts forth: "Why are we actually doing this?" For the big break (haha)? For the money (hahaha)? For the applause – in a time when the stages of our favorite clubs are gradually falling silent? On the way to album number three, Keele have found the answer – and with it, the name of their new record: "Meinetwegen" (For My Sake).
The title represents the driving force that carried the band through their most challenging chapter to date, leading them to their next goal. The lineup change brought about by pandemic frustration demanded musical shifts, a new process of self-discovery, and above all, time. Seven years after their last release, Keele are back with ten new songs. In the meantime, two guitars have become one, and one voice has become three. At first, it sounds familiar—and then surprisingly new. “Meinetwegen” stays true to the band's roots, but embraces a more edgy sound and consciously ventures outside their comfort zone.
In terms of content, Keele focuses inwards and packages personal themes in metaphorical texts – from the search for the right decision, to the constant desire for more, even though there is already enough, and to the question of why change frightens some people more than stagnation.
About Keele:
Keele is a German-language post-punk/alternative band from Hamburg. With their debut album "Gut und dir" (2017, Rookie Records), the band laid the foundation for numerous concerts and tours throughout Germany.
In 2019, their second album, "Kalte Wände," was released on Rookie Records. Shortly afterward, the onset of the pandemic caused an unexpected disruption. This led to a lineup change and a new musical exploration and songwriting process, resulting in a longer hiatus.
With "Meinetwegen," Keele are now opening the next chapter. The third album will be released on October 30, 2026, by Rookie Records and marks the restart of a band that remains true to its roots while audibly evolving.
Keele are Fabian Held (vocals), Patrick Sternberg (guitar/vocals), Leon Te Paa (bass/vocals) and Malte Buchner (drums).

Off-kilter. Peculiar. Deviant. These are common states in a world that is constantly evolving and where progress is advancing at breakneck speed. Consistency has become an unknown variable, resulting in countless people being left behind. Joe Astray is an artist who successfully embraces this multifaceted dilemma and reflects it through sincere and authentic indie music. The singer-songwriter is
A musical nomad whose music is a true kaleidoscope, brazenly traveling through the annals of music history and incorporating dozens of its elements. Heavy, socially critical lyrics blend with volatile, unpredictable compositions to create a damn exciting mix that bears an unmistakable signature.
Joe Astray processes everyday situations and the thoughts behind them, and in particular the music industry and its absurd seriousness are dissected with biting yet charming humor. Especially interesting is Joe Astray's enigmatic vocal accent, which can never be precisely attributed to a specific geography.
Influences range from The Eels, Bright Eyes, and Leonard Cohen to the sardonic, socially critical humor of Billy Bragg, but a clear punk rock DNA is undeniably present in Joe Astray's work. The name says it all, because Joe Astray is everyone and no one at the same time, writing songs for the landless and dispossessed, a walking mystery that defies categorization and who, despite all the darkness, still holds a candle of hope aloft.
