»Federico Colli is careful to seduce his listeners before completely captivating them«, writes »The Times« about the Italian pianist, who opens the »Pianomania« series. Alongside piano sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti, Colli performs Mozart’s much-loved sonata featuring the famous »Rondo alla turca«.
In recognition of his outstanding musical achievements, Colli was recently appointed a Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic. The pianist is deeply passionate about the music of his homeland. Of Scarlatti, he says: »Scarlatti is a composer very close to my heart, not only because he is Italian, but because, for me, he embodies the ideal of a great master.«
With two acclaimed albums devoted to Scarlatti, Colli is the ideal choice to open »Pianomania« with a concert placing the composer’s sonatas centre stage. His exceptional expressive power and sparkling energy in Mozart are evident on two further albums, as well as in his victory at the International Mozart Competition in Salzburg. Of the composer, Colli says: »Mozart is undoubtedly a great friend of mine.«
