»I hardly write letters any more, only music,« Hans Werner Henze confesses, while Ruth Zechlin signs off in nine notes. Between East Berlin and Montepulciano, a dialogue unfolds between two composers born in 1926, touching on love, fees and the state of the world. One seeks spaces of her own within it, the other freedom. Their guiding principle: »You cannot stand on the sidelines!«
