SUMMARY;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:Göksu Kunak: Suspension
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:The physical demolition itself becomes the monumental stage for the=0D=0Asecond BIG MOMENT, opening a new chapter in Kampnagel’s performance=0D=0Ahistory. As part of the first construction phase, Hall k1 will be=0D=0Arestored to its original scale. Partition walls are removed, exposing=0D=0Athe site’s historical layers – from its industrial past and four=0D=0Adecades of performance history to its future transformation. The=0D=0Aformer black-box theatre becomes a daylight-filled hall for=0D=0Aexperimental arts with direct access to the garden. As rigid spatial=0D=0Aboundaries are dismantled, the architecture becomes newly accessible,=0D=0Anegotiating the deconstruction of barriers at the very moment of their=0D=0Aphysical collapse. The construction site provides a striking setting=0D=0Afor Berlin-based artist Göksu Kunak, who, during a residency,=0D=0Atransforms this moment of rupture into a choreographic and sonic=0D=0Aintervention. Under the working title SUSPENSION the building site=0D=0Abecomes a contemporary dispositif in which bodies, labour and desire=0D=0Acontinuously produce one another. Using perforation – the cutting,=0D=0Aopening and occupying of space – as an artistic method, Kunak=0D=0Atemporarily disempowers architecture to reveal new social relations.=0D=0AThrough evocative imagery and a precise sensitivity to material=0D=0Aencounters, the erotic potential of the construction site is=0D=0Atranslated into a fragile yet monumental aesthetic. Demolition thus=0D=0Abecomes a powerful metaphor for the deconstruction of masculinity.=0D=0A
