His engagement with=0D=0Ahistorical performance practice led to projects with the Freiburg=0D=0ABaroque Orchestra, the Johann Christian Bach Academy, and other=0D=0Aensembles using period instruments.=0D=0AAfter his orchestral career, Mittelberger studied conducting in=0D=0ALeipzig. He regularly coaches string sections for various orchestras,=0D=0Aincluding the Harvestehude Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra '91. In=0D=0A2017, he led a youth orchestra project with Arpegio Peru in Trujillo.=0D=0AFrom 2001 to 2017, he taught violin and chamber music at the Hamburg=0D=0AConservatory and conducted the orchestra.
