SUMMARY;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:Devil's Worm - A Play
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:Devil's Worm tells the story of a man named Tsafendas, who in 1966=0D=0Aassassinated South African Prime Minister Hendrik Verwoerd – and was=0D=0Adeliberately branded as "mentally unfit" by the apartheid regime in=0D=0Aorder to obscure his political motives.=0D=0A=0D=0AThe play traces his journey across migration, education, and moral=0D=0Aawakening, exposing how state bureaucracy and manipulated psychiatric=0D=0Areports fabricated a historical lie. A chorus of officials,=0D=0Apsychiatrists, and archivists gives voice to the official narrative,=0D=0Awhile witnesses and documents gradually piece together the truth –=0D=0Anot that of a mere assassin, but of a man who committed an act against=0D=0Aan inhuman system.=0D=0A=0D=0AAt its heart, the play places Tsafendas as a human being whose story=0D=0Ademands to be retold.=0D=0A=0D=0ABecause truth takes time.=0D=0A=0D=0ABecause theatre is where history becomes visible again.=0D=0A
