SUMMARY;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:Joe Lovano: »Coltrane 100: Both Directions at Once«
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:»Good music is like starting a sentence in the middle and then moving=0D=0Atowards both the beginning and the end at the same time – in both=0D=0Adirections simultaneously,« the legendary saxophonist John Coltrane=0D=0Aonce said of his music. An all-star band led by Grammy-winning=0D=0Asaxophone maestro Joe Lovano has taken this motto to heart and is=0D=0Aperforming a tribute concert for the jazz legend, who would have=0D=0Aturned 100 this year.=0D=0ABehind the title »Coltrane 100: Both Directions at Once« are modern=0D=0Ainterpretations of classic Coltrane repertoire alongside original=0D=0Acompositions by the outstanding band members, all inspired by=0D=0AColtrane’s musical legacy. Lovano is joined by Chilean tenor=0D=0Asaxophonist Melissa Aldana, who »connects the south of the American=0D=0Acontinent with the north, Latin American music with jazz« (NDR).=0D=0A=0D=0AAlso joining the ensemble are pianist Nduduzo Makhathini and bassist=0D=0ALinda May Han Oh, both of whom have already thrilled Hamburg audiences=0D=0Aon several occasions. The line-up is completed by drummer Jeff=0D=0A»Tain« Watts, who toured extensively with John Coltrane’s wife,=0D=0Athe jazz harpist Alice Coltrane, as well as with their son,=0D=0Asaxophonist Ravi Coltrane.=0D=0A=0D=0APERFORMERS=0D=0A=0D=0AJOE LOVANO saxophone=0D=0A=0D=0AMELISSA ALDANA saxophone=0D=0A=0D=0ANDUDUZO MAKHATHINI piano=0D=0A=0D=0ALINDA MAY HAN OH bass guitar=0D=0A=0D=0AJEFF »TAIN« WATTS drums=0D=0A=0D=0APROGRAM=0D=0A=0D=0A»Coltrane 100: Both Directions at Once«=0D=0A=0D=0A =0D=0A
