SUMMARY;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:Night Shifts 3 with Jemima Rose Dean, Simone Karl, Jil Lahr and Janis=0D=0Avon Rohden
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:Meeting Point: Sexy Angel, Hans-Albers-Platz / Reeperbahn=0D=0A=0D=0A(Admission: 18+)=0D=0A=0D=0AAs daylight fades, neon signs illuminate St. Pauli, transforming the=0D=0Adistrict into a vibrant hub of encounters and possibilities. For the=0D=0Athird edition of Night Shifts, we invite you to discover the night’s=0D=0Aunique blend of subcultures, sex work, tourism, bars, clubs, culture,=0D=0Aand trash. Here, diverse desires intersect, sparking both connections=0D=0Aand inevitable friction.=0D=0A=0D=0AWithin the establishments of the Reeperbahn, artistic interventions by=0D=0AJemima Rose Dean, Simone Karl, Jil Lahr, and Janis von Rohden come to=0D=0Alife across three locations. Their works delve into the=0D=0Aneighborhood’s contrasts, weaving narratives of pleasure, power,=0D=0Asensuality, and intoxication.=0D=0A=0D=0AAt 9:30 p.m., we’ll gather at Hans-Albers-Platz, beside the entrance=0D=0Ato Sexy Angel. Here, the three Nachtwächterinnen (night watchwomen)=0D=0Awill launch the evening and reveal three locations around Reeperbahn,=0D=0Ainviting the audience to explore the artistic interventions in their=0D=0Aown order and at their own pace.=0D=0A=0D=0ANight Shifts=0D=0A=0D=0AHamburg, February–December 2026=0D=0A=0D=0AA project by Rosanna Graf, Lisa Klosterkötter, and Gesa Troch=0D=0A=0D=0ANight Shifts is a year-long artistic program unfolding across=0D=0AHamburg’s public spaces, structured into eight chapters dedicated to=0D=0Athe theme of darkness. From dusk until dawn, exhibitions,=0D=0Aperformances, sound installations, and readings animate the city,=0D=0Aprobing the tensions between light and shadow, visibility and=0D=0Aconcealment. Throughout the year, diverse locations, such as the=0D=0Aharbor, Harburg, City Nord, and St. Pauli, are transformed into stages=0D=0Afor artistic exploration. These interventions examine Hamburg’s=0D=0Anocturnal darkness as an ambivalent condition. While the night may=0D=0Afoster uncertainty and restrict movement, it also creates spaces for=0D=0Aprotection and play, enabling self-expression, vision, and exuberance.=0D=0AThe artistic contributions illuminate the social, scientific, and=0D=0Apop-cultural facets of darkness from multiple perspectives. At each=0D=0Aevent, three Nachtwächterinnen (night watchwomen) accompany and guide=0D=0Aaudiences through the night.=0D=0A=0D=0AThe Night Shifts program is kindly supported by the Elbkulturfonds of=0D=0Athe Hamburg Authority for Culture and Media, the Hamburgische=0D=0AKulturstiftung, and the Claussen-Simon-Stiftung.=0D=0A
