SUMMARY;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:QueerHistoryMonth | Holy Homophobia!? | Performance
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:QUEERHISTORYMONTH=0D=0A=0D=0AQueerHistoryMonth will take place in Hamburg from May 1st to 31st,=0D=0A2026 (www.queerhistoryhamburg.de). Various events within the festival=0D=0Awill bring the history (and stories) of the queer community in Hamburg=0D=0Ato life. Everyone is welcome – Kings, Quings, Queens, Allies,=0D=0AFriends, (chosen) Families, and everyone in between and beyond!=0D=0A=0D=0AEvent=0D=0A=0D=0AA group of young performers connects personal stories with political=0D=0Aissues: Queer identity, church and colonialism are at the heart of=0D=0Athis impressive performance about imported queerphobia, empowerment=0D=0Aand global perspectives – powerfully, polyphonically and movingly=0D=0Abrought to the stage.=0D=0A=0D=0AYoung people between the ages of 16 and 25 bring a powerful, artistic=0D=0Aperformance to the stage, created under the direction of the=0D=0Aeinhornkollektiv. Through their own texts, choreographic elements, and=0D=0Aspoken-word formats, they explore queer identity, faith, and=0D=0Amissionary history – personally, politically, and poignantly.=0D=0A=0D=0AA particular focus is placed on so-called imported queerphobia in=0D=0AAfrican countries. The performance illuminates how colonial influences=0D=0Aand Christian churches have contributed to the development of=0D=0Aqueerphobic legislation. The performers interweave their own=0D=0Aexperiences with voices from the Global South, creating a multifaceted=0D=0Aartistic dialogue.=0D=0A=0D=0AThe piece was created in 2025 as part of the PHŒNiX Festival Colonial=0D=0AInterferences and is the result of months of workshops on movement,=0D=0Acreative writing, and queer empowerment. It is a space for expression,=0D=0Aself-empowerment, and socio-political reflection.=0D=0A=0D=0AThis moving production will now be shown again on a specific date. The=0D=0Aproject offers young artists a platform to showcase their perspectives=0D=0Aand invites the audience to listen, reflect, and engage in dialogue.=0D=0A=0D=0AThe production was developed in creative collaboration with Sarah=0D=0AAhrens and Frances Heller and supported by the Hamburg Cultural=0D=0AFoundation, the Schachtsiek Family Foundation and Hamburg Pride eV.=0D=0A=0D=0AThe event is accompanied by the exhibition This is me! – Queer and=0D=0Areligious?=0D=0A=0D=0A"How can you be religious and gay?" – "Your religion oppresses queer=0D=0Apeople! Why are you still a member?" Queer religious people hear=0D=0Asentences like these all the time. From both sides. They often feel=0D=0Alike they have to choose: either their faith or their identity. As if=0D=0Athe two were incompatible.=0D=0A=0D=0ABut they do exist: people who live both lives. Who pray and love. Who=0D=0Aare trans* and read Torah. Who are welcome in the mosque as a lesbian=0D=0Acouple. Who live their faith not despite, but with their queer=0D=0Aidentity.=0D=0A=0D=0AThe exhibition is open to the public from May 5th to July 5th, 2026=0D=0A– during events and on Saturdays from 12 pm to 2 pm.=0D=0A=0D=0ADate of the play: May 30, 2026=0D=0A=0D=0ATime: 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM=0D=0A=0D=0ALocation: Holy Trinity Church (St. George's Church), St. George's=0D=0AChurchyard 19, 20099 Hamburg=0D=0A=0D=0AOrganized by: einhornkollektiv=0D=0A=0D=0AThe event is free of charge.
