SUMMARY;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:Migration und Hafenarbeit im Stadtteil Veddel
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:With just under 5,000 inhabitants, Veddel is one of Hamburg's smallest=0D=0Aand most diverse districts. Around 50 different nationalities live=0D=0Athere. Hardly any other Hamburg district is as closely linked to the=0D=0Ahistory of migration as Veddel. As early as 1900, the district served=0D=0Aas a springboard for numerous emigrants to the New World. In the=0D=0A1920s, Veddel acquired its still-visible buildings, which were=0D=0Aprimarily inhabited by dockworkers and their families. Since then, a=0D=0Avibrant, colorful district has established itself between the railway=0D=0Atracks and streets, which we will explore in more detail on a walking=0D=0Atour. Afterwards, we will visit the former Warehouse G and delve into=0D=0Athe dark chapter of forced labor in the Port of Hamburg. The tour=0D=0Aconcludes with a visit to the German Port Museum and the four-masted=0D=0Abarque PEKING. The redevelopment of the Grasbrook district and the=0D=0Aresulting changes for Veddel and the Port Museum will also be a topic=0D=0Aof discussion on our tour. The tour takes place from 12:30 pm to 4 pm=0D=0Aon the following dates: June 19 | October 16, 2026. Guide: Anna=0D=0AProchotta. HOW TO GET YOUR TICKET: Please select the available start=0D=0Atime from the calendar below. Up to six people can be registered per=0D=0Abooking. Cost: 15 euros (including admission to the German Port Museum=0D=0Aand the PEKING). For booking inquiries, please contact:=0D=0Abuchungsvorgang@deham.shmh.de.
