SUMMARY;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:XULY.Bët. Funkin’ Fashion Factory 100% Recycled
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:The story of Lamine Badian Kouyaté (b. 1962 in Bamako, Mali) and his=0D=0Alabel XULY.Bët, founded in 1991 in Paris, is a story of resistance,=0D=0Avision, and love for fashion. It is shaped by migration, diversity,=0D=0Aand a radical idea of sustainability, long before this word became a=0D=0Atrend. Growing up in Bamako, Kouyaté was moulded at an early age by=0D=0Athe hands of his grandmother, who processed fabrics and gave them a=0D=0Asecond chance. For him, this was not a fad but a way of life. When he=0D=0Acame to Paris in the 1990s, he brought precisely this perspective with=0D=0Ahim: clothing as a memory, resource, and tool – at a time when=0D=0Aenvironmental awareness was barely an issue in the European fashion=0D=0Aindustry. Upcycling became an artistic practice for Kouyaté. His=0D=0Afashion moves between streetwear and couture, between everyday life=0D=0Aand the runway, worn by stars such as Rihanna, Dua Lipa, Halle Berry,=0D=0Aand Viola Davis, and celebrated in international exhibitions. Kouyaté=0D=0Arevolutionised the Parisian fashion scene with streetwear as high=0D=0Afashion, upcycling, and guerrilla fashion shows. Director Robert=0D=0AAltman paid tribute to him in the 1994 film Prêt-à-Porter, in which=0D=0Ahe was portrayed by Forest Whitaker.=0D=0A
