Gamelan music originated many centuries ago on the islands of Bali and Java. It is played jointly on gongs, metallophones and drums. Its unique soundscape already captivated composers such as Claude Debussy and also still has a lot of fans in Europe today. The Elbphilharmonie has a particularly beautiful ensemble of instruments. In this workshop, you can try out these instruments with guidance – and experience how spellbinding it sounds when everyone plays together.
Please note: This workshop is aimed at families with children aged 10+. Children may only participate if accompanied by an adult guardian with a ticket.
Children younger than ten years may not participate in this workshop.
