Botanical-faunistic excursion to the Ludwigslust Palace Park
On May 25, 2024, the traditional castle park excursion of the Naturforschende Gesellschaft Mecklenburg e.V. (NGM) will take place under the direction of Uwe Jueg. This event has enjoyed great popularity for years.
During the excursion, visitors learn a colorful mix of interesting facts about the animals, plants and mushrooms in the park. The plant diversity of the flowering meadows and greening forests are just as much a part of the excursion as the numerous exotic trees and shrubs. Common and typical birds, insects and other small animals are also introduced. Of course, the eventful history of the park, both in terms of natural history and culture, is also highlighted. The "Schlosspark Ludwigslust" landscape conservation area is considered to be the best-studied area of its size in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, with almost 5,000 known species - a result of the largest mapping in the state initiated and carried out by the Naturforschende Gesellschaft Mecklenburg e.V. (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Nature Research Society). Some real rarities are among them.
All interested parties are cordially invited to the excursion on 25.05.2024, which starts at 10.00 am and will last until approx. 1.00 pm. The meeting point is the Natureum. The contribution towards expenses is €3 for NGM members and €4 for guests (children half price). As Ludwigslust Castle Park is still partially closed, participation is at your own risk.
