"The German-Russian century"

Russia's inhumane policy towards Ukraine under President Putin has triggered discussions in Germany about redefining German-Russian relations. On April 28, the Rostock-based contemporary historian Stefan Creuzberger will be speaking at the State Library from 6 pm about his book "The German-Russian Century", which traces the tense history of relations between Germany and Russia and was nominated for the German Non-Fiction Prize in 2022, the year of its publication. Creuzberger covers everything from the Russian Revolution, the Hitler-Stalin Pact, Stalingrad and the Cold War to the fall of the Berlin Wall, reunification and current conflicts such as the annexation of Crimea and Nord Stream 2. An important historical examination of this epochal connection that has repeatedly shaped world events. The author thus makes a relevant contribution to the current debate.

The event is part of the traveling exhibition "The Other Russia. MEMORIAL: The struggle for historical truth and democracy", which can be visited until April 30 at the country's Documentation Center for the Victims of Dictatorships in Germany.
