Classical Music
Symphoniker Hamburg / Rosanne Philippens / Geoffrey Paterson
Friday, 04/10/2024 / 11:00 AM - 01:00 PM / Elbphilharmonie (Großer Saal)
Under the direction of British conductor Geoffrey Paterson, the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra presents a musical journey across the Atlantic, beginning with the diverse sounds and facets of American music in William Grant Still’s »Darker America«. Samuel Barber’s Violin Concerto op. 14 then takes us into a world of virtuoso interpretation and emotional depth. After the interval, Antonín Dvoák’s Symphony No. 9, also known as »From the New World«, will be performed. Dvoák, who was born in Bohemia in 1841, captured the hearts of Americans with this work and enriched the musical landscape of the »New World«.
