"Sometimes I would like to scream. My struggle for a stance in the Middle East conflict"

Book launch and discussion with Steffi Hentschke and Stefan Koslik

On March 23, 2026, Middle East correspondent Steffi Hentschke will be presenting her book "Manchmal würde ich gerne schreien. My struggle for a stance in the Middle East conflict". The event will be moderated by journalist Stefan Koslik. Admission is free.

Steffi Hentschke traveled to Israel and Palestine for the first time in 2012. The young journalist writes her reports about occupation tourism, on the beach in Tel Aviv she asks herself why she feels at home here - despite the war and violence. She travels to the West Bank, Iran and Lebanon and decides to become a Middle East correspondent.

In her book, she combines personal experience with political analysis, describes developments before and after October 7, 2023 and struggles to find an attitude that can withstand contradictions. A book for all those who believe that complexity is not an obstacle, but the only way to talk about this conflict.

Steffi Hentschke was born in 1988 and is a daily Middle East correspondent for DIE ZEIT. She is highly regarded for her analyses of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and regularly works for the Federal Agency for Civic Education, speaking as an expert and moderating discussion panels.
