Rup un Rünner

Rup un Rünner Comedy by Peter Quilter German by Max Faber Low German by Tina Landgraf Premiere23. January 2026

There are many reasons for men to climb a mountain. Enthusiasm for extreme sports, a sudden midlife crisis or to commemorate their hiking enthusiast friend Christian, who recently passed away. So Steffen, Daniel and Toni - best friends from their student days - set off on a two-day summit conquest. But it's not just over the mountain, their lives are also going up and down. Steffen, the womanizer and beau with commitment issues, is about to get married and is hoping in vain for the support of his two friends. Daniel hasn't yet got over the break-up with his partner and Toni has been carrying around an unused condom for three years because he just doesn't seem to have the spark. This hike not only turns into a journey of self-discovery in matters of love for the three of them, but also puts their friendship to the test - with a sharp edge, blunt honesty and plenty of humor.

British West End and Broadway playwright Peter Quilter has been a household name for Low German audiences since Sneistorm last season at the latest and is considered one of the most frequently performed playwrights in the entertainment genre. His plays have been staged in over 40 countries and 27 languages. In his comedy The Hill - the original English title of Rup un Rünner - which premiered in Prague in 2020, Quilter once again takes a hopeful look at the facets of human coexistence, differences and complications, but also reconciliation and community. After the German-language premiere in Wuppertal, the Low German premiere now shows that the North German Fritz Reuter stage can also handle a few high points and keep up with the English humor.
