Poeler Open-Air Movie Theater on the Schlosswall in Kirchdorf

A summer evening, a great movie, and the Baltic Sea breeze

On Friday, July 24, the Poel Island Tourist Board once again invites you to its popular open-air movie night on the Schlosswall in Kirchdorf. After dark, around 9:30 p.m., the open-air movie experience begins under the starry sky.

This year’s featured film is “Chantal in Fairy Tale Land.”

Here’s what it’s about: Chanti is back—in what’s probably the coolest fairy tale ever! Chantal, an eternal influencer with no followers, and her best friend Zeynep find themselves transported into the world of fairy tales through an antique magic mirror, which they mistake for a social media gimmick. Much to Chantal’s delight—after all, as a princess, she’ll surely be able to generate the best content! Unfortunately, it’s not just any fairy tale she ends up in, but “Sleeping Beauty,” of all things. A little warning to all princes: Kissing her awake is at your own risk! As Chantal searches for her way back home, she realizes that in the realm of dragons, fairies, and other fairy-tale characters, things work very differently from what we know from the Brothers Grimm’s stories. Princess Amalia, who has absolutely no desire to get married; the sensitive Prince Bosco, who struggles with identity issues; Aladdin, who has never even heard of a magic carpet; and a witch who is anything but a cliché.

CHANTAL IN FAIRY TALE LAND is a funny and touching adventure that gives the world of fairy tales a fresh, contemporary twist and shows that you certainly don’t need princes for a happy ending.

Admission is free.

Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Poeler Sportverein 1923 e. V., featuring light snacks and beverages.

Visitors are asked to bring their own seating or blankets to make the movie night as comfortable as possible.

If heavy rain is forecast for the evening, the event will be moved to the Poeler Kursaal in the Haus des Gastes in Kirchdorf.
