A humorous reading with Wolfgang Mahnke
Do you know right away what a snowman has to do with Corona or how to get to a walk with a certain "Käpten Pött"? Wolfgang Mahnke has surprises in store - always with a human touch - as we know from all his texts: "Vacation with or in Low German"? A Berlin couple on vacation falls into the middle of "t plattdüütsche Läwen" in a funny and true-to-life way, but political, historical and medical topics are also humorously addressed - "learning by reading" up Platt.
The Johannes Gillhoff Society, the Mecklenburg Foundation and the Ludwigslust City Library are continuing the series of events "Plattdütsch tau`n Hoegen un Besinnen" 2025 with a humorous reading with Wolfgang Mahnke from Rostock. He will read from his brand new book "De plattdüütsche Urlaub" on Friday, January 31 at 3 p.m. in the atrium of the town hall.
Wolfgang Mahnke has been working as a freelance Low German author since 1994 and has been a member of the Bund Niederdeutscher Autoren e.V. since 1998. In 2003, Wolfgang Mahnke was awarded the Fritz Reuter Literature Prize.
In 2016, he received the Unkel-Bräsig Prize, followed by the MV State Language Prize in 2017. He was also awarded the Johannes Gillhoff Literature Prize in 2018.
