»Anyone else could gather his main themes from Dvořák’s scraps,« Johannes Brahms once enthused, praising the Bohemian composer’s melodic brilliance. After discovering his music in 1873, Brahms became an ardent supporter and a close friendship blossomed between the two. Fittingly, this concert by the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia pairs their works: star pianist Daniil Trifonov performs Brahms’s radiant Piano Concerto No. 2, followed by Dvořák’s magnificent Symphony No. 7 under the baton of the orchestra’s newly appointed chief conductor Daniel Harding.
