Nature & ecology as a source of artistic inspiration
On an interactive nature tour through Ahrensburg Castle Park, we'll immerse ourselves in the world of plants and explore ecological connections with all our senses. Using magnifying glasses, we'll discover details – smell, touch, and sharpen our perception. Along the way, we'll collect small finds that appeal to us and pique our curiosity.
Afterwards, we'll head to the open studio in the gallery at Marstall Ahrensburg. The impressions from the nature tour and the objects we find serve as a starting point and source of inspiration for creative work using techniques such as drawing, frottage, collage, and printmaking. The focus is on an experimental and process-oriented approach. We'll move between figuration and abstraction, allowing associations to emerge and following our intuition. The studio thus becomes a laboratory and space for experimentation. The goal is not a perfect result, but a conscious experience, the joy of discovery, experimentation, and creation.

Workshop leader:
Anja Zihlmann, born in Switzerland, completed her studies in Fine Arts at the Hamburg University of Art and Design (HfBK Hamburg) in 2018. She is a freelance artist, scenographer, and herbal educator. In her work, she designs interactive spaces and experiences that encourage active participation. In her work as an artist and course instructor, she inspires creative development and shares her enthusiasm and curiosity. Together with Ben Nurgenç, she runs ars eco lab, an organizer of art and nature experiences.
