For the 11th Hamburg Architecture Summer 2026, we are bringing the exhibition “Nothing New – Better Building with Existing Structures” from the German Architecture Museum (DAM) to Hamburg together with Architects 4 Future and the network PIA – Women in Architecture eV.
We don't just show the exhibition – we take it further.
Because building within existing structures is not a niche topic for experts, but a central future issue for our city that affects everyone.
Instead of glossy models behind glass, we offer models that you can build yourself.
Instead of keeping your distance: Participate.
Instead of just looking: Try it out, rebuild it, rethink it.
Projects such as the Gängeviertel, PARKS (Alster-Bille-Elbe PARKS), the renovation of Kampnagel, and the Gröninger Hof showcase and discuss Hamburg's perspectives. The exhibition thus becomes a local inventory.
A diverse program of interactive workshops, tours, visits, and lectures will accompany the event. Topics such as circular construction, craftsmanship, social issues in the construction industry, and sustainable urban development will not be considered separately, but rather interconnected.
In this way, the exhibition becomes a space where generations, professions, and perspectives come together and ask the following questions:
How can we continue building when we already have everything?
The exhibition was curated by Katharina Böttger, Jonas Malzahn and Mathias Schnell (studio central) and extended for Urbaneo by Paulina Krebs, Maire Cordts, Ina Möller, Heidi Fletscher, Adrian Ebert, and Tanja Willhalm (Urbaneo, PIA - Women in Architecture eV and Architects 4 Future Hamburg).
