"The Ludwigslust Palace Park in old views" (Speaker: Joachim Kalide - Ludwigslust)

The town of Ludwigslust is celebrating its 150th anniversary in 2026 under the motto "Ludwigslust through the ages". On February 17, 2026, we will start with a lecture by Joachim Kalide, who will present old views of the castle park in the form of historical postcards. He probably has the largest collection of such postcards and picture postcards from Ludwigslust The development of the park over the past one hundred years will be presented. The speaker would like to invite you to take a walk through one of the largest and most beautiful landscape parks in northern Germany.
On March 31, a special exhibition entitled "The Ludwigslust Palace Park through the ages", designed by Joachim Kalide and Uwe Jueg, will be opened. In addition to historical postcards and picture postcards, the exhibition outlines the development of Ludwigslust Castle Park as a natural environment from the Ice Age to the present day and presents the changes brought about by man, particularly under the dukes. Remarkable plants and animals, both extinct and new inhabitants, are also included. The lecture accompanying the special exhibition will be given by Uwe Jueg.
