Films by Fine Kwiatkowski (dancer and choreographer) and Willehad Grafenhorst (musician, filmmaker and computer visualist), dance - music - visual arts - nature

Fine Kwiatkowski (dancer and choreographer) and Willehad Grafenhorst (musician, filmmaker and computer visualist) show experimental short films, created in formative places, special spaces and exciting landscapes...

In their films, which both have created as the duo cri du coeur over the last 16 years, they take their audience to special places. They reveal how they see the world. Views full of concern about global political changes, always pointing out the beauty that we are about to lose.

"dahinter liegt das unumkehrbare" (30:00') had its German premiere in 2024 in the "Körners Corner" series at Programmkino Ost in Dresden. It brings together three dancers, two musicians, a singer and four visual artists. The starting point for this work was Christa Wolf's novel "Medea Stimmen", which was filmed in Sicily, in the Madonie, a nature park, and in Gibellina, a place of remembrance. In 1968, the village of Gibellina was destroyed by an earthquake. The Roman artist Alberto Burri covered the remains in a thick layer of concrete.

    "dematerialization"
(13:16') leads to a disused vacation village on Cap de Creus in Spain, which was dismantled after 2008.

"not haven but sky" (17:03') was created in 2011 during a working stay in South Africa. Dance scenes were developed in various places in Johannesburg city center, in Soweto and in SKY, a center for some of the most disadvantaged children and young people in South Africa. The film gives personal impressions of a city of harsh contrasts - different cultures, oppression that continues in economic dependencies after the abolition of apartheid - in the midst of the greatest poverty, a cultural vibrancy was found that overwhelms.

"MauerSegler" (04:56') takes us to Israel. Beauty and vitality repeatedly come up against barbed wire borders. 2008

irrinnovabile - unrenewable (16:30') uses artistic means to address the effects of climate change and environmental destruction. Inspired by Ed Hawkins' climate stripes, the development of the last 60 years is shown with dance, music and video images from Sicily and Brandenburg.
Sicilian jungle, Brandenburg monoculture, plastic waste, burnt stretches of land. Is there still cause for hope? 2025

"SteinBlicke - Grotta Grattara" (06:37') from the year 2019.

In the grotto in Sicily, we encountered creatures growing out of the rock walls and turning into stone...
The imagination goes on a journey and communicates with them: who are these grotto creatures with their twisted, interlocking limbs that look like tentacles? Where do they come from, what do they want?
