London Philharmonic Orchestra / Raphaela Gromes / Edward Gardner
Sunday, 07/12/2025 / 08:00 PM - 10:25 PM / Elbphilharmonie (Großer Saal)
Sheku Kanneh-Mason has to cancel this concert with great regret due to an injury to his left hand. On medical advice, he is suspending his concert activities until the end of 2025 and plans to return to the stage in 2026. Raphaela Gromes was immediately willing to step in. The programme can therefore remain unchanged.
Camille Saint-Saëns’ First Cello Concerto is one of the absolute showpieces of the cello repertoire – brilliant, virtuosic and full of sophisticated melodies that allow the cello to shine even in the lower registers. The London Philharmonic Orchestra accompanies this highly romantic work with two further sonorous masterpieces: Elgar’s concert overture »In the South«, inspired by Italian landscapes, and his grandiose First Symphony.
