When the couple from the neighboring apartment has to go to the hospital to give birth, a single bookseller in her mid-50s agrees to look after their young son. However, when the mother dies during childbirth, the neighbor develops a deep bond with the boy, the widowed father, and the newborn, even as she must navigate where her boundaries lie. A heartfelt portrait of a woman who has settled into a single life and feels comfortable in it, but unexpectedly grows into a family due to circumstances, without wanting to take on the classic mother role.
