Four members of a sprawling family meet in the house of an ancestor, which has been locked since her death in 1944 for about 80 years. In it, the heirs discover traces of an adventurous life that their ancestor lived in Paris during the Belle Époque, including her connections to the circles of Impressionist painting and early photography. This humorously underpinned, excellently cast drama artfully intertwines both time levels and entertainingly reflects on technology-related upheavals. A few weaker moments are overcome by a tender, optimistic gaze at the characters, whose hardened attitudes break open through confrontation with their ancestors.
