Lecture on the city's history at the Kulturforum

On the topic: Recognized cultural heritage - The restoration of Schwerin Castle between 1974 and 1990

In cooperation with the Verein für mecklenburgische Geschichte und Altertumskunde e. V. and the Stadtgeschichtliche Sammlungen Schwerin, the next lecture event will take place on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at 6 p.m. in the Kulturforum.

Dr. Jakob Schwichtenberg, Schwerin/Grabow, will give another lecture on the topic:
Recognized cultural heritage - The restoration of Schwerin Castle between 1974 and 1990

The handover of the Throne Hall to the public - initially as a concert hall for the Philharmonic Orchestra - in 1974 not only marked the start of the restoration of the historic 19th century state and public rooms, but was also associated with a re-evaluation of Schwerin Castle. The monument had now become a recognized cultural heritage, which was regularly reported on GDR television.

Admission to this lecture event is free.
