Our accommodation is located in the heart of the small town of Zarrentin directly on the Schaalsee. The landscape, shaped by the ice age, is extremely varied and provides a habitat for a rich variety of flora and fauna. As it was located in the restricted area of the inner-German border until 1989 and has been under UNESCO protection since 2000, the landscape, fauna and flora have been largely spared negative influences.
Uwe Westphal (born 1957) has been intensively involved with the local bird world since his childhood and has been leading ornithological events for more than 40 years. He is a qualified biologist, nature guide, book author and is known to a wide audience from radio and television as a bird call imitator. Since 2010, he has been based in the neighboring village of Neuenkirchen, from where he regularly offers excursions.
