Hamburg, 1945. Three teenagers, Traute, Hermann, and Jakob, meet on the streets of the bombed-out city and try to finally begin a life in peace after the horrors of war. But the path across the rubble is arduous – a daily routine with school, friendships, and carefree days eludes them. Traute suffers from loneliness, Hermann has to care for his war-wounded father, and Jakob, whose Jewish mother was deported, is completely disoriented and lost after many months in hiding. They are all united by their constant hunger. Will the three find the strength to take their future into their own hands?
