Heidschnucken-lambs peering in the nature park SüdheideMany lambs are already born - some still follow!
Meet Carl Wilhelm Kuhlmann with the Heidschnucken herd from the Niederoher Heidschnuckenhof. The "cute" offspring is waiting for the first trip or is already the first days with the mother animals in the heath on the way. To observe the young lambs during their "discoveries" in the stables or when driving in is a very special experience. The Heideschäfer knows a lot of interesting facts about the Heidschnucken attitude of then and today and to report their importance

The Heidschnucken lambs discover the heath

They are small, black, fluffy and ring in the end of the winter time with their "bleating for the bet". At the Heidschnuckenhof you can experience how the newborn sprouts of the Heidschnucken move in the first days. Every puddle, every shrub and every tree is new territory for the lambs and are curiously eyed. In the barn, they hop like little flummis between and on the back of the mothers back and forth.
Again and again it happens that a lamb is not accepted by the mother. Ms. Leimcke-Kuhlmann shows how to raise her charges with the vial. Depending on how old the lambs are, children may try themselves as "foster mothers".
With an impressive roar back to the yard
When the shepherd on the heath retreat, the Heidschnucken are hard to hold. With pricked ears, you can hear the herd before you go with Carl Wilhelm Kuhlmann on the farm. The lambs bleat to find their mothers in the crowd, because they memorize their voice right after birth.
An impressive spectacle that will delight young and old alike and can not be seen in any zoo.
