On the trail of an old craft
Cycle tour to former glassworks sites (40 km) with expert explanation from a nature park ranger.
Glass was produced in our region for centuries. This required plenty of fuel, which was available in this once densely wooded region. Suitable sand was also available - because the nature park is located on a sandy outwash from the last ice age.
There were several glassworks in the nature park region. Bottles and vessels with the typical green color, forest glass, were produced here, but later also white glass.
The cycle tour (approx. 40 km) leads to former glassworks sites, where there will be expert explanations from a nature park ranger.
Meeting point: 10 am in the parking lot at the Karower Meiler
