Discussion on the exhibition “Sea People” at the Detlefsen Museum Glückstadt
At the Detlefsen Museum, the public can expect an exciting encounter between science, art, and literature: As part of the exhibition "Sea People," photographer Barbara Dombrowski and a panel of distinguished experts invite you to a public discussion. Participants:
Barbara Dombrowski, photographer, author, curator and lecturer for documentary photography in Hamburg Dr. Silja Klepp, Professor for Social Geography of Coasts and Oceans at Kiel University, Co-holder of the UNESCO Chair for Integrated Marine Sciences Rüdiger Stöhr, microbiologist and project manager at One Earth-One Ocean eV, Kiel
Johanna Benden, writer, Glückstadt

Main topics:
Human-sea relationships in Schleswig-Holstein and globally: How do coastal landscapes, marine use, and culture shape our understanding of the sea and humans?
Marine litter and solutions: What perspectives does the One Earth One Ocean initiative offer on the problem of marine pollution?
Art as a medium for knowledge and communication: What role can art play in communicating scientific results?
Science meets art: Example projects in which Silja Klepp and Barbara Dombrowski worked together – potentials, limitations, and learning areas for future collaborations.
The aim of the round: to broaden the perspective beyond the boundaries of disciplines, to promote dialogue between science, art and literature and to provide impetus for further interdisciplinary cooperation in the context of marine research and marine culture.
We look forward to a stimulating discussion and an inspiring exchange on the topic of ocean people.
