First part on Wednesday - January 28, 2026 (6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.):
Introduction to macro photography:
What options do my camera and accessories offer?
The use of the tripod.
Planning the photo – just snapping away is a thing of the past!
After the first exercises with the camera while sitting, we will continue with practical exercises. Please keep
- a tripod,
- a SLR or system camera with a macro lens or close-up lens (alternatively a bridge camera)
- Batteries that are fully charged
- a flowering houseplant, preferably a colorful butterfly orchid
ready.
Homework
There are various tasks, ranging from taking photos with a tripod to taking a quick handheld shot, as well as sorting the photos and making a selection.
Second part on Wednesday - 11 February 2026 (6:30 p.m. to approximately 8:00 p.m. depending on the number of participants):
- Focus stacking
- save, sort, and use photos
- You present a selection of your photos taken in the last week (with image discussion).
About the speaker:
Helge Masch ( www.helgemasch.de ) is not a professional photographer, but a gardener, but photography is his passion. He has been using an SLR camera since he was 16. In this course, he will share his practical experiences and, without much photography jargon, inspire you to embrace macro photography. His tip: Don't despair; if you bring home ONE perfect photo from a photo tour, you've achieved a lot!
Please familiarize yourself with your camera and the settings outside of the automatic programs and bring the camera's instruction manual with you if necessary.
The event series "Garden Knowledge @home" takes place online via Zoom.
