The Grevesmühlen FriedWald - a final resting place in the middle of the forest
North of the town of Grevesmühlen, between the Santower and Vielbecker lakes, lies the FriedWald Grevesmühlen: an alternative burial site to the traditional cemetery. People can find their final resting place here under beech, oak, lime and maple trees. Douglas firs, cherries and coastal firs are also available as burial sites. Burial takes place in biodegradable urns at the foot of the trees. A small name plaque on the tree commemorates the deceased. There is no grave maintenance in the FriedWald, nature takes care of it.
The central place of remembrance and commemoration in the Grevesmühlen cemetery forest is the place of worship. It is equipped with a wooden cross, seating, a lectern and a large sun and weather protection sail. Funeral services can begin here. Benches along the forest paths invite you to rest and linger.
Funerals can be arranged individually - according to the wishes of the deceased or the relatives. Funeral services can be held quietly in a small circle or with musical accompaniment on a large scale. If desired, the funeral can also take place with Christian support or be accompanied by a funeral speaker.
People who wish to find their final resting place in the middle of the forest can choose their final resting place while they are still alive. Different types of grave are available depending on requirements: From one or more individual places on a communal tree to trees for a whole family or a circle of friends of up to 20 people. Trees with free spaces are marked with a yellow ribbon. Visitors can recognize free trees by a blue ribbon.
