"Favorite pieces" - Karl Christian Klasen on Poel

An exhibition of the Karl Christian Klasen Gesellschaft e.V.

Exhibition period: March 14 to May 31, 2026

In the 1980s, the Mecklenburg Foundation acquired a large part of the estate of the Poel painter Karl Christian Klasen (1911 - 1945). In 2000, the society named after him came together to preserve his artistic legacy. Since then, this society has presented Klasen exhibitions in Kirchdorf on Poel every year. For the 25th anniversary of the association in 2025, owners of works by the artist and members of the Klasen Society were asked to name their personal LIEBLINGSSTÜCKE! The resulting exhibition tells their stories: How they came into possession of a work that is very special to them, what memories and thoughts it evokes in them.

This special exhibition is now coming from Poel to Schwerin. The Mecklenburg Foundation is thus honoring the 115th birthday of the artist as well as the 26 years of work of the Karl Christian Klasen Gesellschaft e.V.
