Lecture and discussion at the Federal Archives – Stasi Records Archive in Schwerin on October 24, 2026.

As part of the “Saturday in the Archives” series at the Federal Archives—Stasi Records Archive, October is traditionally dedicated entirely to the Peaceful Revolution of fall 1989 in the region. The events in Schwerin—from the Alter Garten to St. Paul’s Church—have been examined extensively in recent years. But what happened outside of Schwerin? This year, the event series turns its attention to the peace movement around Ludwigslust with a lecture and takes a look at events that played an equally significant role in the course of history.

In addition to the lecture, there will be a guided tour of the archive. Attendees will also have the opportunity to submit a request to view Stasi files. To do so, please bring a valid form of identification.
