This workshop provides insights into dance styles of the 20th and 21st centuries: from ballet to expressive dance, modern dance, post-modern dance and dance theatre through to contemporary dance. Typical movement vocabulary of the styles can be experienced physically and we try out the different principles and rhythms. Whether soft, falling movements or powerful moves – each dance has its own individual expression and wants to tell different stories. The result is an overview of the individual basic steps as well as improvisation approaches and the theoretical knowledge behind them. By immersing oneself in this diversity, the individual spectrum of movement and aesthetic expression expands, practice and theory combine to form a journey through dance history.
