Friday, 28/06/2024 / 06:00 PM - 12:00 AM / Freilichtmuseum Schwerin-Mueß
Musical by Michael Ellis Ingram, freely adapted from Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's one-act play, Low German translation by Tina Landgraf
SCHWERIN CASTLE FESTIVAL 2024
Rosa's café seems to be the place for unhappy lovers. While the pithy café owner sees her chances of marriage and children of her own dwindle as all the suitable men swarm around the beautiful Elmire, Erwin, her inconspicuous waiter, is also suffering from a broken heart - because the beautiful Elmire pays him no attention at all. Out of grief, he moves to the solitude of the well-known Mecklenburg mountains and meets an eccentric hermit. Can he help him?
Based loosely on Goethe's Erwin and Elmire, Michael Ellis Ingram has dusted off the 19th century musical comedy, enriched the characters with rough edges and turned it into a slapstick summer musical. With a mixture of the original songs from the musical comedy and self-composed pieces from a wide variety of musical styles, the result is a varied and good-humored evening with live music in the Mueß open-air museum.
