HAMBURG THEATER FESTIVAL presents IGNITIONS
Nothing to laugh about anymore, Mr. Nuhr? On the limits of freedom of expression
You know him from television, from his many stage programs, from countless contributions and interviews: the cabaret artist, comedian, author and television presenter Dieter Nuhr is part of the everyday life of everyone interested in politics in Germany. With his sharp tongue, his pointing out contradictions, his unerring view of politics and society and his extensive expertise, which always forms the basis of his biting statements, he regularly entertains us at the highest level, including on "Nuhr im Ersten". At the Hamburg Theater Festival you can now get to know him from a different side. Dieter Nuhr is our guest this year in the festival's own talk show "Zündstoffe". Here Nuhr will not be performing, but will let the person behind the professional entertainer shine through. The topic of the evening is and remains controversial: What is freedom of expression and where do its limits lie? As a cabaret artist, Nuhr is very familiar with the pitfalls of opinion, assertion, breaking taboos and decency. Nuhr's conversation partner is the renowned journalist, author, and television presenter Giovanni di Lorenzo. As editor-in-chief of the weekly newspaper DIE ZEIT and co-publisher of the Berliner Tagesspiegel, di Lorenzo is one of Germany's most highly respected public figures, enjoying a high degree of trust among his readers and audience. Look forward to a conversation about freedom of expression, which must be continually renegotiated in our challenging times, caught between democracy, demagoguery, and cancel culture.
