"Human dignity is inviolable." (Ferdinand von Schirach). Perhaps no place in Hamburg symbolizes this insight as powerfully as the Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial. The guided tour of the grounds illustrates how the system of dehumanization operated and how the city of Hamburg attempted to suppress the memory of this place in the post-war period.
