The sprightly Mary Danton wants to spend the summer in a rural idyll and rents a house far away from the big city. But her peace is disturbed by a mysterious figure who roams around at night and may be connected to robberies in the area. The perpetrator always leaves a blue handprint at the crime scene as a signature and is therefore feared throughout the county as "The Blue Hand". But Mary Danton is not so easily driven away because her detective instinct has been awakened.
