Kulturhaus, mon amour Comedy by Juliane Hendes Premiere April 17, 2026

"But now it has to be good slowly!"

Well, that could be fun! Grandma died very old and very happy, but she left her family such precise instructions for her own funeral service that they are now faced with several problems at once: Ludwigslust Castle is not available for Grandma's funeral service, the funeral director of her choice is now an unsuccessful DJ in Güstrow waiting for his big break, half the family is allergic to Grandma's favorite flowers (which Grandma knew, of course) and the funeral speaker can't come because his dog has depression. But Grandma's most unfulfillable wish is for harmony and peace between her loved ones. At least for one day! It comes as it must: In the old, musty cultural center where the family gathers, they clash, the bad jokes, the sensitivities between the generations, weariness of change and accusations, an irrational but latent fear of foreign infiltration and the arrogance of a newly conquered Berlin environment that teaches you everything that is wrong with the people in your East German homeland. If Grandma had known that, she wouldn't have died.

Following his successful productions of Gabriel and Hotel Savoy , Jakob Weiß is bringing a new play to the M*Halle stage, written by Rostock-born author Juliane Hendes to suit the actors in the ensemble - a social satire about the absurdities of our present day. About what divides us and how we still manage to stay together without losing our sense of humor.
