SHINRIN YOKU

"Shinrin yoku" is a Japanese term meaning a conscious and intensive preoccupation with the atmosphere of the forest and its positive effect on people. In the broadest sense, a washing and bathing in the magic of the trees.

This exhibition is an invitation to explore the invisible, deeply interwoven connections between people and trees. What role do trees play in our lives? In this way, the exhibition enters into a dialog with the secret network of relationships in nature, searching for the essence of trees as living, breathing organisms. At a time when man's relationship with nature seems increasingly alienated, the art of Anne Rosinski and Juliane Vowinckel offers a sensitive resonance chamber in which to pose questions in an intuitive and sensitive way.

The focus is on the free handling of paper. The two artists find sensitive answers through the material. Noise, touch, folds, shapes, exploring the element of paper, creating an experiential space, accompanying over a period of time, in the shade of the trees, discovering relationships.

Anne Rosinski

Anne Rosinski graphically accompanies a group of poplar trees throughout the year. Light, shadow, snow, earth, sand and grass become part of her drawing. She discovers the magical gift economy of nature. Her rather quiet statement is about a social appreciation of fragile dependencies that is too often forgotten.

Juliane Vowinckel

Juliane Vowinckel combines artistic practice with ecological reflection. In Waldatmen (Forest Breathing), she explores the tension between forest resilience and forest decline.
The forest appears here as a resonating space and can be sensually experienced and read through the combination of painting, photography and installation.

Exhibition series cubed | uncubed

The exhibitions at KUNSTraum SCHWERIN focus on a different theme each year. In 2026, KUNSTraum SCHWERIN is presenting the exhibition series cubed | uncubed with five exhibitions.

The title cubed | uncubed refers to the tension between order and departure, limitation and development. "Cubed" stands for the architectural form of the space, for the framed, the ordered and for the visibility of art in the urban fabric. "Uncubed", on the other hand, opens up this framework, dissolves structures and carries the art beyond its boundaries into the urban space. In the interplay between the two concepts, the exhibition space becomes a place where questions are asked about the function and effect of art - as a source of inspiration, as a field of experimentation and as a link for social encounters. The boundaries between inside and outside are blurred, art is brought into the public space and is intended to attract and inspire locals, guests and art lovers alike. As a "meeting place for art", the KUNSTraum SCHWERIN presents diverse, surprising and exciting exhibitions that are constantly seeking to inspire new ideas.

The KUNSTraum SCHWERIN

The office of the Professional Association of Visual Artists in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is located at Ritterstraße 1 in Schwerin. The KUNSTraum SCHWERIN is connected to the BBK M-V office: KUNSTraum SCHWERIN, an exhibition space for contemporary visual art and a place for cultural encounters and exchange, opened in Schwerin in 2021.

In the conception of the exhibition program, the BBK M-V follows the basic principle of "art in urban space". Open, communicative and inspiring, the KUNSTraum SCHWERIN with its exhibitions of contemporary art, the diversity of artistic forms of expression and various event formats sets a new aesthetic and cultural focal point in the State capital Schwerin.
